With more than 20 years in the watch and jewellery industry the ever-elegant Martina Hensel is a well-known figure on the German watch circuit. Back in 2013 the Ebstein family reached out to her to join the team, as they felt Martina would be someone with the knowledge to take care of the retail network in the German and German-speaking Swiss markets. How would you describe your work? “I do spend a lot of time in the car visiting our 35 retail partners in Germany. And I love the collaboration that we have, because it is so varied. Often I show our new products and take orders, and if needed, I also help with the displays or educate co-workers about Chronoswiss products and our modern mechanical values. You can imagine that no two days are alike, and I love meeting people from all walks of life.” What other things are important? “To me it is important that you are representative of a brand’s qualities of trust and elegance. It is however equally important to be able to engage with people. That makes it exciting – and fun; over the years I have become friends with many of our partners.” How have recent times affected your work? “Of course it was difficult when the jewellers had to close, but on the whole I have experienced positive developments.” Positive in what sense? “I have seen proof of more and more clients wanting more expensive high-end timepieces from our collections. That is great, because it means our clients really understand that we make timepieces like no one else. Just look at our colourful regulators with guilloché dials made by hand in our Lucerne atelier.” Which Chronoswiss watch is your favourite at the moment? I would say the Regulator Night and Day: colourful and so much going on, but still very harmonious. That sounds a bit like you? Yes!
