Welcome to episode 15 of #humanfriday, where you meet the Chronswiss team and friends of the brand. Today: Jolanta Rauchfuss, who leads the service department.

Jolanta has been with Chronoswiss for 30 years, thus she is a treasured encyclopaedia for anything Chronoswiss. Take her words of wisdom: “Service your watch at regular intervals”. Because when you look after your watch you have a wonderful product that will live on for hundreds of years.

Service is a big issue for many brands – especially the turnaround times. At the moment the waiting time at Chronoswiss is approximately eight weeks – but the future aim is that a watch that has come to the Lucerne atelier for a full service should not be there more than four weeks. “Most people wait until they notice that there is something wrong with their watch. I would rather say: let somebody look at your watch every four to five years, as you might need to change the oil. And if you use it for swimming, check the seals at a boutique every year – this normally just takes a few minutes,” says Jolanta.

Despite her busy workdays, she also finds the time to marvel over the watches. “With SkelTec we explore minimalist design possibilities, and I love the colourful, reflecting handmade guilloché on our Open Gear collections. Some appear like a three-dimensional checkerboard, and others, for instance the Big Wave, look like an ocean swell slowly rolling in towards the shore," says Jolanta, who loves to travel – especially along the Italian coastline.

What else do you find fascinating with watches?

“The longevity. A timepiece will be inherited for generations if you look after it. It guides you through life, and it will live on for hundreds of years after you are gone.”

What is the biggest challenge with your job?

“Every client is an individual watch lover, so we do our best to treat them well in a flexible and personal manner. When you do, they tend to say ‘yes, my next watch will also be a Chronoswiss.’”
