A scorching hot summer is ahead of us. Droughts, floods and wildfires are putting millions of lives at risk. Activists from Greenpeace East Asia unfurled a banner at Toyota's annual general meeting (AGM), demanding that the automaker stop producing fossil fuel cars that contribute to the climate crisis.⁣

There is an urgent need to embrace zero-emission mobility. We advocate for fewer cars on the road, more affordable public transport, and the development of walkable, cyclable cities. We also urge automakers to provide zero-emission mobility services when car use is necessary.⁣

However, toyota, the world's largest carmaker, lags behind its peers in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles. ⚡⁣

During the AGM meeting, a shareholder raised a question about how Toyota could catch up, considering that electric vehicles accounted for 10% of global vehicle sales last year and that number is rising, while Toyota didn't even make it to the Top 10.⁣
