back when I competed in pageants, a coach pointed out something I didn’t even realize I was doing- every time somebody complimented me, i’d deflect it by putting myself down or point out a flaw. She told me that when I did that, I wasn’t just dismissing the compliment, I was inviting people to focus on my weaknesses instead.

women are so often taught to be smaller, quieter, “less than.” but confidence isn’t arrogance and accepting a compliment shouldn’t be either 🙅🏼‍♀️

so here’s your reminder (and mine) to own your compliments and let yourself receive the good 🩷
