Representative G.K. Butterfield is a lifelong North Carolina resident who has fought diligently for the people of NC-01 for 17 years. 

He fought for fair access to affordable healthcare, educational investments in rural communities, veterans benefits, and technology and infrastructure development in eastern North Carolina neighborhoods. He has been a champion for the working class folks in his district. 

In the 114th Congress, G.K. Butterfield was the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. He has been a constant advocate for Black Americans, funding HBCUs, maintaining civil rights protections, and police reform.
