Earlier, we explained the data-driven approach we take with our student sponsorship program. Today we have some very interesting data to share with you! 📊

We conducted an analysis in Malawi comparing a cohort of our sponsored primary school students and a control group of non-sponsored students from the same background and same school. 📚

What we found is that our sponsorship program is associated with significantly lower rates of transfer, absence, and dropping out ❗️ Some key insights:

✅  19% of the control group were absent for one semester, compared to only 1% of the Sonder sponsored group;

✅  16% of students in the control group were reported to have transferred out of the school, compared to only 1% of the Sonder sponsored group;

✅  4% of the control group dropped out of school, compared to 0% of the Sonder sponsored group.

We are encouraged by these positive results that indicate that our sponsorship program is associated with real improvements in the consistency and continuity of students' education! 🙌🏽

And we are committed to continuing to collect data from other cohorts. Analyzing the true impact of our programs enables us to make improvements to better support students to stay in school and thrive! 🎓
