🏒TSU just announced that it is launching the FIRST EVER HBCU hockey team! 

In 2021, through a continued effort to grow hockey at the college level, the NHL and the NHLPA, in collaboration with Tennessee State University (TSU), the Nashville Predators and College Hockey Inc., funded a feasibility study through the NHL and NHLPA’s Industry Growth Fund.

Armed with positive results from the feasibility study, all sides have continued to work towards making ice hockey at TSU a reality.

Now, against the backdrop of the 2023 NHL Draft, Tennessee State University has announced that it will be starting a Club Hockey program.  Establishing a successful Club hockey program is a key step on the path to NCAA Division I hockey.

🙌🏾 This will make Tennessee State University the first HBCU to have an ice hockey program at any level.

The plan is to have the team up and running for the Fall/Winter 2024 season.

TSU is on the lookout for hockey players to play on this historic team and stated "Our goal is to find high-level academic students from across the US and Canada that strive for an elite HBCU education. Hockey players have always been determined in their academic studies and will continue to serve as ambassadors to the TSU community on-and-off the ice."
