🌊 When it comes to flooding response and recovery, we have a well-organized plan in place! Here's the order of our operations and service objectives within the city's traveled right-of-ways:

1️⃣ First, we prioritize the safety of our community by barricading and closing streets affected by flooding. Arterial roads and secondary roads are closed, with our dedicated crews progressing from west to east, focusing on areas with the highest traffic volumes. Response time goal: within 2-3 hours of reported roadway flooding.
2️⃣ Once the water recedes and it's safe, our Public Works team jumps into action, clearing debris and heavy sediment from the streets to the shoulders. We start with arterials and then move to other roads, following a west-to-east progression based on traffic volumes. Our goal is to have arterial streets open within 24 hours and all roads back to normal within 48 to 72 hours.
3️⃣ After ensuring passable roads for emergency responders, we prioritize cleaning stormwater structures. By removing debris, we mitigate the risk of future severe flooding. Response time goal: within 24 to 72 hours for critical drainage facilities.
4️⃣ Street sweeping comes next, focusing on fine sediment removal. We start with intersections and then move on to arterial streets, followed by the remaining local streets. Response time goal: 2 to 14 days.
5️⃣ Mending roadway shoulders and addressing erosion and heavy sedimentation is crucial. We prioritize repairs based on ingress/egress needs and dangerous pavement edge erosions. General grading follows. Response time goal: 2 to 28 days.
6️⃣ Finally, we begin the haul-off process, removing excess sediment and debris from the shoulders. The timing for this depends on the severity of the event and available space within the right-of-way. Response time goal: 14 to 28 days.
