The Florida Gators 🐊 have been making some noise in the NCAA transfer portal! 

Not only does Parker Valby return to Gainesville this upcoming cross country season, but she’s got three new All-American teammates making their way to Gator Nation!

New Transfers: 

• Flomena Asekol -> ran for the University of Alabama this past year, she finished in 14th place in the Women’s 6k at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships. This past outdoor track season, Asekol was the runner-up in the 1500m at the SEC Outdoor T&F Championships and finished with a 4:11.38 personal best. 

• Amelia Mazza-Downie -> ran for the University of New Mexico this past year, she finished in 22nd place in the Women’s 6k at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships. This past outdoor track season, Mazza-Downie finished in 4th place in the Women’s 10000m (32:51.90) at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor T&F Championships in Austin, Texas.

• Elise Thorner -> ran for the University of New Mexico this past year, she finished in 40th place in the Women’s 6k at the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships. This past outdoor track season, Thorner finished in 5th place in the Women’s 3000m SC (9:42.95) NCAA Division 1 Outdoor T&F Championships in Austin, Texas.

Four T&F/XC All-Americans on one team 🔥 

Will Thorner and Mazza-Downie’s former teammates in the transfer portal from New Mexico, Gracelyn Larkin, Aliandrea Upshaw and Maisie Grice join the strong Gator duo for national cross country glory? 

Can the Gators find a strong 5th runner or will someone like Jordan Shapiro or Angelina Perez help fill that crucial 5th athlete position?
