#COVshoutout to ashlynthelibero from #COV18Blue on her commitment to Salem College!! 

🔹Ashlyn chose salem_spiritsvb because after the first phone call with Coach Barry, she knew that their expectations were the same. She is so excited to be part of a program that loves volleyball just as much as she does. Ashlyn was super sold on the competitive drive shown by both the team and coach! The program had a HUGE turnaround this last season and comparing records really shows the drive the team has and how much Coach Barry values competitiveness. Ashlyn knows she will be surrounded by great athletes who she will be able to learn from and grow with.

🔹Ashlyn wants to thank God for giving her this opportunity and bringing her to where she is today. She wants to thank her WHOLE family for sticking by her side for seven years of hardships and success in her volleyball career. She wants to thank EVERY coach she's ever had, from her first club coach to her last. She also wants to thank every athlete she has played with or against, because they have all taught her skills and given her experience she could only gain through competitive wins and losses. Ashlyn is just as thankful for every loss as she is for every win. She feels so blessed to be able to play the sport she loves.

🔹Ashlyn's encouragement to younger athletes: “Take everything with a grain of salt. Move on to the next point, and translate that into your life outside of Volleyball! You may not know it now but you will be taught many real life lessons through Volleyball. If you want to play in college, start your recruiting process early! Don’t wait, go for it! Don’t be afraid of no responses or rejection. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, as Volleyball is just a game of who will make the least amount of mistakes. So don’t be so hard on yourself or your teammates for mistakes. Lift up your teammates, just like you would want to be lifted up."
