CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS

Avery Dusterhoft, OH, #COV18Gold

🔹What has playing at Club One meant to you?
“Playing at Club One has been the most impactful decision I’ve ever made. Up until just over a year ago I was a North Dakota kid who had a narrow view of the world, and during Covid I decided to play in Arizona. I found myself aligning with the values of the club and am so glad I decided to try out. I’ve found my best friends here, people that I truly have bonded and built connections with, and in all seriousness, my family.”

🔹How have you grown from freshman year to now?
“My freshman year I was that quiet, sit at the back of the class, introverted, doesn’t have much to say girl. Throughout my years in high school I’ve grown into myself exponentially. I’ve surrounded myself more with people who love and support me. I feel more confident in who I am and know that I’m the person I’ve always wanted to become.”

In her senior year at Gilbert HS, Avery and her team advanced to the semifinals of the 5A state tournament. On the club side, Avery and the 18Gold squad placed second at the Fiesta Classic and later became the first Gold-level team in club history to earn a bid to USAV Nationals. Avery will continue her academic and athletic career at Kirkwood Community College.
