CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS

Emma Orton, MB, #COV18Platinum

🔹What has playing at Club One meant to you?
“Even though I only played my 18s here at Club One, Club One has completely changed volleyball for me, and I am so thankful for the staff and the coaching I have received this year. I am so happy that I got to play for a hard-working, talented club that pushes you to be the absolute best that you can possibly be but lets you have fun doing it. I am so thankful that I got be on the court with those eight girls, they are killers.”

🔹Describe your first day playing volleyball.
“My first day playing volleyball was a very long-awaited day. I had to wait till my older sister graduated high school to start. I never played volleyball, I just knew that I had to play it, so I waited for years to try out for a team. The first time I ever stepped on a volleyball court was the best day of my life. I found out that volleyball isn’t just a sport, it’s something that can guide you through the first part of your life.”

🔹What has volleyball taught you?
“Volleyball has taught me so many things. It’s taught me that when things are hard, if you push a little bit harder, you can achieve great things. Volleyball has taught me so many great lessons that I don’t think I could’ve learned anywhere else: How to be a great leader, how to never get down on myself, how to pick up others when they’re down, and most of all, don’t let haters bring you down.”

In her senior year at Ironwood Ridge, Emma received 5A Sonoran Honorable Mention. On the club side, Emma and the 18Platinum squad won the SCVA Girls 18s NQ to qualify for USAV Nationals, where they placed ninth in the National division. Emma will continue her athletic and academic career at Yavapai College.
