Temple Field Hockey defeated Quinnipiac 2-1 Friday afternoon to snap its three-game losing streak. The Owls entered the fourth quarter clinging to a one-goal lead but Quinnipiac earned a penalty corner and tied the game just two minutes into the quarter. Temple was quick to strike back, as they earned a penalty corner of their own and back Alizé Maes fired a shot past Quinnipiac goalkeeper Christina Torres to give Temple the lead.

Maes’ goal was her second of the day as she had scored the Owls opening goal in the first quarter, Temple’s first opening quarter goal since its win against Georgetown on Oct. 18. Temple generated 14 shots throughout the game and earned five penalty corners. The win secures the second seed in the Big East tournament next week in Providence.

“A game like that is always amazing,” Maes said. “I think they fought hard. I think we fought hard. It was an important game for us and it was a fun game for us. When we win it is a great thing. Whether I'm the one scoring or not.”

Temple finishes out its regular season at home against Lehigh on Nov. 3 at noon.
