Temple Women’s Basketball knocked off VCU 59-55 Friday night at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia. The Owls offense had struggled in the first two games of the season and that trend carried into Friday. Temple shot just 32% in the game and entered halftime down 28-22. Coming out of the locker room, Temple finally found an offensive groove.

The Owls shot 47% in the third quarter and a three from guard Kaylah Turner sent the game to the fourth quarter tied at 43. Temple’s offense struggled again in the fourth quarter but its defense stepped up and forced multiple big turnovers, and the Owls made their free throws down the stretch to pull out the win. Guard Tiarra East led the way with 28 points and forward Anissa Rivera grabbed 16 rebounds.

Temple will remain on the road as they travel to face Georgetown on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
