Simply being involved in the criminal legal system should not be a death sentence.

The SPLC's new Cause Unknown project at the 🔗 in our bio is designed to help answer open questions about in-custody deaths in #Mississippi.

Although the Department of Justice requires some data on in-custody deaths from prisons and jails to be reported, it does not demand enough information to fully understand a person’s death. And in states like Mississippi, that data is often inaccessible.
