Homelessness is not a crime. And if we truly want to end it, we must prioritize housing and services — not handcuffs and incarceration.

The SPLC is proud to stand alongside ppapinellas and unhoused people across #StPetersburg, #Florida, in pushing back against the Whaley v. St. Petersburg lawsuit, which seeks to enforce a cruel interpretation of Florida’s public camping statute by demanding the court jail people experiencing homelessness or banish them from public space.
