## Caption

On June 14 and 15, the community of Royal, Florida, the state’s last remaining “40 acres and a mule” homesteading community, celebrated its annual homecoming. At the same time, the SPLC has been continuing its work, which began two years ago, to assist the community in seeking recognition from the National Register of Historic Places. Read the full story at the link in our bio.

The historic designation would help residents preserve their community. Supporters can sign a petition to join Royal’s effort to be listed on the National Register. #SaveRoyal #40Acres #EconomicJustice #SPLCFL
