## Caption

Founded in the 1860s by emancipated Black people who were granted land after the end of slavery, #RoyalFlorida is one of only two surviving Black U.S. homesteads.

The Royal #Florida we know today is sustained by its ancestors' descendants, and the SPLC is helping them fight to protect and preserve the community.

At the 🔗 in our bio, you can read how residents are preparing for their annual homecoming celebration and pushing to have Royal recognized by nationalregisternps to, ultimately, preserve the community's longstanding legacy.
