🧪 Save and try this fizzy sensory play idea with your preschoolers this weekend! 🧪

Do you have a curious little one who loves to get their hands dirty? If so, here is a fun opportunity to experiment with baking soda and vinegar to make a huge fizzy mess! Not only that, but they’ll also get to practice their colors, numbers, and ABCs along the way.

Steps:
1. Gather your materials – baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, tray, spoon, 3 beakers or cups, and your Letter and Number Cutter Set from the KiwiCo Store or cookie cutters.
2. Mix 3 different colors of vinegar using food coloring.
3. Lay your cutters on a tray and fill them with baking soda.
4. Color them in with vinegar while reading out loud.

What’s going on?
When you combine the baking soda and vinegar, a chemical reaction occurs and results in a bubbling eruption of fizzing color. Acids – like vinegar – and bases – like baking soda – are special kinds of chemicals that tend to react with each other to form something completely new: carbon dioxide gas. So the bubbles you see are filled with carbon dioxide gas which creates all the foamy fizz!
