While I was recording my last album, I had a collaboration with Phife on the song "French Kiss" that was originally called "Brains". After sending the stems to Phife for him to record, he called me and spit 32 bars over the phone!!! I was like woow...I was buggin to have Phife from A Tribe Called Quest spitting to me over the phone...like what?!? To my astonishment, Phife also wanted to use the song on his album. We were going back and forth about how to make this happen but unable to agree, we ended up releasing "French Kiss" on my album without Phife's verse. I still wished we had released the version with him on it, even after talking to him about it and being on good terms. Today, I'm beyond honored that "Frenchkiss" with his verse is finally being released and that you get to hear Phife's awesome verse. Go cop the Limited Edition Phife 'Nutshell' double 12 inche vinyl. Side A has Nutshell , Frenchkiss ft. myself and an alternate mix of Dear Dilla. Side B has the Serato control tone. Go cop it!!! RIP PHIFE DAWG !!! #RIP #Phife #PhifeDawg #Nutshell #DearDilla #Frenchkiss #Serato #smokingneedle #ATCQ #5footassassin S/O djrastaroot
