Twice this week God revealed things to me that brought so much clarity to past pain in my life. I wish I could share the full stories, but they’re personal and involve too many people outside myself so I’ll share what I can.

The first one was a realization that sometimes we interpret other people’s silence as a reflection of how that person feels about us, when in reality that person is protecting space or holding a boundary that they’ve likely learned the hard way needs to be held. Sometimes we get so caught up with wanting our own needs met that we often forget that comes at the expense of someone else’s time and resources.

The second realization occurred while going through my journal to look for a bible verse I’d written (I’m now realizing my entire journal is me writing letters to God and I don’t think that is how the general population journals…). It got me reading something I wrote in February of this year where I told God that a situation in my life wasn’t looking good, but I trust Him with my life so whatever happens I’m here for it. Then 90 days from the time I wrote that in my journal, the exact situation blew up in my face and I proceeded to act very shocked by it for two months until I read in my journal that very passage where I invited Him to do whatever He wanted in that situation because I trusted Him.

So the second thing I learned was sometimes life gives us curveballs, and we’re shocked by them, but then we realize that God is working in the exact ways we asked him to, it just looks shocking because it doesn’t look like the way we thought it would.

So to wrap things up, if someone doesn’t text you right away it might just be their day off and they’re trying to have a day off. Also, don’t write things in your journal and tell God you trust Him unless you’re ready for the curveball.
