It was in the basement of this house on the east side of Detroit — from about 1992 to 1997 — where Dilla set up his first home studio that gave birth to his revolutionary approach to hip-hop production. Slum Village, Common, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, D’Angelo, Jazzy Jeff, Dwele, Frank-n-Dank, Que D, Phat Kat (1st Down), 5Elementz (5Ela), Da Enna C, Amp Fiddler, Erykah Badu and several others,  just to name a few of the talented artists and musicians who spent time in that basement. #ThankYouJayDee #DillaMonth #HipHopHistory #Detroit
