A fairytale farm is hiding near Burlington with baked goods and free trails ✨

One of my favorite places for a long walk is shelburnefarms. This educational farm is open for free all year and offers a beautiful 10-mile trail system. The historic homes and majestic barns are basically castles, and even feature a charming bakery straight out of Europe!

🐴 Shelburne Farms was created in 1886 as a model agricultural estate by Dr. William Seward Webb and Lila Vanderbilt Webb, daughter of one of the world’s wealthiest men. They consolidated 32 farms into a 3,800 acre estate. The property has many historic structures that are free to explore!

🧁 Tucked in the gorgeous converted horse barn is obreadbakery, a family owned bakery with the best treats. This is a 0.5 mile walk from the visitors center and parking area, so go for a stroll and grab a snack! (There are also baked goods at the visitors center for easy access.)

☀️ After stocking up on sweets, wander another mile down to the Shelburne Farms Inn. This lakefront mansion was built in 1888 as Lila and Seward’s home and outdoor haven. The Inn is open May - October, but the property is open all year. Explore the gardens and catch the sunset!

🍁 Sugaring season is an awesome time to visit Shelburne Farms and O’Bread Bakery. Keep an eye on their social media for sugar on snow and other maple goodies!
