Explore a Hallmark village with gorgeous trails and lots of hidden history ✨

Welcome to episode 4 of Spontaneous Vermont Day Trips! I’m on a mission to show how easy it is to go outside and have fun. Brandon is an underrated gem nestled between Killington and Middlebury. This beautiful village has everything you need for an A+ adventure! 

Brandon is like Stars Hollow… great eateries and shops surrounding a town green with a historic inn. There are also dozens of free trails within 20 minutes. Pack your layers and hit the road!

🦋 Start with a stroll around town and visit the village waterfalls. Many of the old homes have hidden attics or cellars that were potentially part of the Underground Railroad. Legends say the Marsh House Mansion had a tunnel to the old railroad tracks! 

📚 Pop into local shops like thebookstorevt and grab a drink at redcloveralecompany. There are also antique shops, artist galleries, and more! 

🥯 Stop for food at any of the great local eateries. I love themorningsidebakery for breakfast, lunch, or sweet treats. Their turkey BLT is delicious! 

☀️ Explore free nature preserves within 20 minutes of Brandon. I’m a big fan of Lake Dunmore, where you can access all types of recreation from Branbury State Park. Hike, snowshoe, nordic ski, skate, ice fish, snowmobile, or sunbathe. The Moosalamoo Recreation Area and Goshen Blueberry Management Area are also nearby!
