Don’t ever get so busy with life that you forget how to really live 🦋

Is there something from childhood you’ve always wanted to do? Did you dream about writing a book or becoming a baker? Maybe you secretly love old coins or want to fill your backyard with fairy homes. We all have something that pulls at our souls without explanation. 

✨ For as long as I can remember, I’ve had the desire to create fantasy art. I’ve always been obsessed with history and fairytales, plus all things musical theater. I was raised on stage and my childhood was filled with every costume you can imagine. But when I “grew up” and let life take over, I stopped dreaming of fantasies. 

💃🏼 This weekend, many of us met ilonamaher, the rugby superstar from Burlington. She told a very powerful story about how trying rugby changed her life. She said all she wanted to do was try something new and see if it felt better than anything she had done previously. Now she’s a bronze medalist because of that one decision. 

💫 Something about meeting her, looking her in the eyes, and seeing her massive Olympic medal changed me. She’s a Vermont girl just like me, who was unhappy and decided to experiment with finding joy. If she had kept her feelings inside and stuck to her comfort zone, there might not be a medal around her neck. 

🍃 In the hours after this mind-melting experience, all I wanted to do was create art for art’s sake. Not because a brand asked me or because the algorithm wanted to be fed. My head, heart, and soul simply burst wide open with the need to express my unique self. I drove to my favorite state park, picked this new blue dress from my costume trunk, and held my head high despite judgmental hikers. 

👑 Ilona told us to never tone it down. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to tone it down again.
