A Sanskrit mantra, chanted into water and captured as light.

Autophysiopsychopoetic II is a new artwork by our founder, Suchi Reddy, now on view at toledomuseum as part of their Collector’s Corner, debuting alongside TMA’s newest exhibition Losing Ourselves Together: The Art of Bobby Anspach. The work follows Suchi’s interest in the universality of vibration and resonance, continuing her series first shown at the Elmhurst Art Museum in 2024. It is based on cymatic patterns—referred to by Suchi as “mandalas”—created by capturing sound vibrations of the om chant in water. The image is overlaid on a drawing inspired by one originally created by John Coltrane and given to his friend Bill Evans aka Yusuf Lateef. Printed on Pilkington glass, the patterns let light through and cast color into the surrounding space.
