As seen in Bloomberg’s CityLab: After the Pandemic ‘Reset Button,’ Downtowns Reinvent Themselves

A new exhibit at the NationalBuildingMuseum showcases how downtowns are evolving from office corridors to centers of housing, nightlife and culture.

The design is organized along semi-circle displays inspired by social distancing, featuring case studies from more than 60 US cities.

“In yet another nod to the pandemic — or more specifically, innovations cooked up during that time — by the show’s designer Reddymade, seats fashioned out of orange traffic barriers give visitors a place to rest and socialize.”

“At the end of the exhibit is a ‘City Action Hall,’ a room that can be reserved at no charge by community members, nonprofits and even government officials for meetings, brainstorming sessions and public events — as long as their work aligns with the exhibit’s mission.”
