The dining parlor is one of the first spaces you encounter right off the foyer for Project #IntheGardens. So we wanted to make sure these rooms beautifully communicated who the family is, and their love of art, and culture!

Displaying art, sculptures and masks from their collection, as well as a furniture pieces from beloved family, was our way of having the home’s entrance serve as a celebration of this family’s heritage, love of exploration and connection to each one another.

Keeping the walls white, but adding wall moulding helped restore the classic feel to this century-old home. To bring in the laid back vibe of a parlor, we used plush velvets in bold tones pulled from the wallpapered ceiling.

One requirement was for there to be a bar, because I mean, what parlor is complete without a custom bar? So we called on the help of livishwoodwork to fabricate this curved bar that would serve as the epicenter for gatherings.

To layer in personality through color, texture and pattern, we wallpapered the ceiling in “A Song for Mollie”. This print represents Ankara disc fabric which taps into the ancestral African heritage shared within the family.

The results of designing with intention!

Feliz Friday, y’all! Swipe through to see what the space looked like before, and get ready for more of this home’s transformation this weekend✨ #davidquarlesiv | #Studio417 | #choosejoy
