Going over the checkpoints for at-bats during live BP dbatgaithersburg.

After hitting, they come and fill out the sheet based on how the at-bat went. This helps them understand what adjustment, if any, they need to make for the next at-bat.

1. Did they take a deep breath (fully in, fully out) before every pitch to slow the game and their mind down? ✅

2. Did they have a good approach and stay committed to it? ✅

3. Did they have 100% focus on each and every pitch? ✅

4. Did they get ready early, slow and under control or did they feel rushed and not on time? HUGE for timing and a good contact point. ✅

5. Did they swing at the pitch they were looking for or go out of their zone? ✅

While mechanics are important, most of the time the fix that is needed is what we’re thinking at the plate. If hitters can do the 5 steps mentioned above well, their mechanics will be better. If they don’t do them well, their mechanics and timing will be thrown off. The great part about it is that all 5 of these steps are in their control! Those who can do them consistently will have the quality of their at-bats skyrocket. 🚀
