Prototype 1: ⁠
This prototype was made with Inconel (a family of austenitic nickel-chromium-based superalloys), which does not have enough cooling properties to withstand the heat generated from the combustion process at its peak. ⁠

Prototype 2: ⁠
The translucent prototype reveals the cooling channel, where a propellant is circulated through the model to ensure that the chamber can withstand the extreme heat produced during the combustion process.⁠

Prototype 3: ⁠
The interstice in this prototype enables the team to inspect the embedded 3D printed cooling channels.⁠

Prototype 4: ⁠
This prototype is 3D printed in copper which has high thermal conductivity to withstand a stronger heat flux. 3D printing the engine reduces cost, complexity, and manufacturing lead time.⁠
