For centuries, these places existed for millions of people only as words in the Bible. Then archaeologists started digging. 📖⛏️

For over a century, archaeologists across Iraq, Israel, and Jordan have been digging up the cities, pools, tunnels, and palaces named in the Bible. Abraham’s hometown, the walls of Jericho, the city Jonah was sent to, and the pools where Jesus healed the sick have all been found. Some were uncovered on purpose, others by accident, like a broken water pipe in Jerusalem in 2004. Thousands of years later, the places from the stories are still standing.
