Weight loss isn’t linear. Just like some of us have blond hair and some brown, our body sheds fat-weight at different speeds and in various patterns. While a few of us might drop weight consistently week in and week out (if that’s you, embrace that because it’s rare and so very nice!), while the majority of us don’t. Often, we will see a rollercoaster pattern where we drop a lot of weight one week and then actually gain a little the next.

The most common pattern that I see is a stair step weight loss. This is where we drop weight maybe 3-4 weeks in a row, and then stay put for 1-2 weeks. These weeks where we don’t drop weight (yet are following our meal plans and implementing healthy lifestyle habits consistently) aren’t a concern! This is not a plateau. It’s simply your body balancing, resetting hormones and getting ready for the next stint of fat-loss.

The most important thing you can do during these mentally tough weeks is to embrace a positive mindset and continue to follow everything precisely. Be thankful for your body, and know with 100% confidence that it will follow. We know this is true because our PHD clients most commonly all have the same weight loss average (women about 2- 2.5lbs/week and men 3-5lbs/wk). The path that our bodies take to achieve it simply varies which shouldn’t really surprise us, right?
