World Oceans Day is a global celebration dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of our oceans and inspiring action to protect them. Covering more than 70% of our planet, the ocean helps regulate our climate, supports incredible biodiversity, and provides resources that people around the world depend on every day. It also faces growing challenges, including pollution, habitat degradation, and the impacts of climate change.

At Moody Gardens, ocean conservation is part of our mission every day. As an AZA-accredited institution, we are committed to advancing conservation, education, and scientific understanding of marine ecosystems. Through partnerships with organizations such as NOAA, we contribute to conservation initiatives that help protect marine species and habitats in the Gulf and beyond.

Our team also supports coral conservation efforts through propagation and research projects that contribute valuable data to the broader scientific community. By working alongside conservation partners and researchers, we help advance knowledge that can support the long-term health of coral reef ecosystems.

Just as important is education. Every year, Moody Gardens connects hundreds of thousands of guests, students, and educators with the wonders of the ocean through immersive exhibits, educational programs, camps, and hands-on learning experiences. By helping people understand marine life and the challenges our oceans face, we hope to inspire future scientists, conservationists, and ocean advocates.

On this World Oceans Day, we celebrate the beauty, importance, and resilience of our oceans and reaffirm our commitment to protecting them for generations to come.
