If you haven’t enjoyed Greek wine with oysters🦪 , then you are missing out on one of the most wonderful wine pairings. I went to a tasting event a year and a half ago (I know, I’m sorry I left you hanging!) at veritaswineroom with thebubbleista and it was amazing. 

❔Why Oysters + Greek Wine 
The coastal regions of Greece produce wines that have a mineral quality and a subtle salinity that pairs well with the taste of oysters. This is because the volcanic soil and sea air that these grapes are grown in can influence the flavor of the wine.

Ultimately, the pairing of oysters and Greek wine is a matter of personal preference, but the combination of a briny, salty oyster with a crisp, refreshing Greek wine can be a delightful culinary experience! 

🌟The Wine that Stood Out
My favorite wine out of the tasting line up was the Nostos Vidiano from manousakis_winery — and I bought a bottle! It’s made with 100% Vidiano grapes. Vidiano is a local grape variety that is predominantly grown in the central and eastern part of Crete.

On the palate, Nostos Vidiano is crisp and refreshing, with a medium body and a well-balanced acidity that complements its fruity flavors. There are also subtle hints of minerality, which add complexity to the wine and makes it a great match for an oyster. 

And on that note, it’s time to recreate this moment at home. I’ve had this bottle in my wine fridge for too long and I’m hoping it doesn’t disappoint! Oysters, crab carpaccio, lobster tostada…mm! #SipWithKachet
