All right, y’all - we’ve got a plan! One that gives me more hope than the last one. 🙏🏾

I’ve been sharing bits + pieces of my #ITPjourney on stories more than my feed, but I felt like this deserved its own post since yesterday marked two months since I was hospitalized and today I had a doctor appointment that was very much a review of the past several weeks. 

Short story: Platelets are not critically low, but not a high increase over the past two blood tests. Plus, Prednisone was doing too much to your girl. I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve felt jittery and like I’ve had 5 cups of coffee. My focus has been off. And I’ve gained 10 lbs in the past week. I’ve been pushing through, but I cracked last week and decided that at my appointment, I’d ask for a Plan B — because one shouldn’t have to suffer to feel better. Another reminder be your own advocate!

So, bye bye Prednisone and hello IVIG therapy, which stands for intravenous immunoglobulin. This treatment has a longer term effect than a daily steroid and I’m excited about this because the side effects are minimal.  Any would appear at the onset of the treatment. Its effects have the potential to last months — maybe even years. I’m confident with this approach, and am so grateful to have the same doctor that I had at the beginning of this journey. It is a journey indeed and we will see how this goes.

I’ll start the week after Thanksgiving over the course of a few days. Can’t frickin wait. And a shoutout to the donors that make this possible! #ITPAwareness
