How a bike fit taught me things about business.

Lesson 2: It’s all in the position.

Since starting my Ironman prep, I’ve been eyeing up a TT bike. These things fly. But they don’t come cheap.

Canyon’s have always been a standout for me. But after hitting up 3dbikefit, I realised it’s not about the bike – 90% of drag is your body position. That’s where the real speed is.

Same goes for business. The right fit will take you further than any brand refresh or shiny logo. 

Here’s what I learnt:

• Position and Comfort: It’s not just the bike, it’s the setup. Same with your team. They’ve gotta fit your goals like a well-oiled machine.

• Streamlining: I dialed in my bike to cut down drag. Do the same in your business. Simplify, streamline, and watch how fast things move. 

• Quality Counts: I invested in the best parts - dura ace group set, fast tt bars, reserve wheels.. you name it. In business, don’t be afraid to spend on the tools and people that matter. Good moves early save big headaches later.

• Stay Open: Disc wheels weren’t on my radar at first, but they ended up being a game changer. Stay flexible. The best opportunities often come from where you least expect them.

• Long-Term Focus: My last bike lasted seven years. I see it as an investment in my health. Same with business – think long-term. Build something that lasts.

• Substance Over Hype: Some bikes look fast, but I went with the Cervelo P5 because it’s built for me. In business, don’t chase trends. Do what actually works.
