Hair update- Well as you can see by the picture not too much has gotten better. Some of the shampoos, topicals, light therapy stuff I’m using helps with the shed, but then every so often it just comes out in a massive amount out of nowhere. I haven’t been able to see a pattern to the trigger and it’s super frustrating.

I went to the hair dermatologist as you all saw and started steroid injections in the scalp, oral monoxidil and finesteride. Unfortunately, I had to stop all of these as the injections caused divets in my scalp and the combo of the other two left me with crazy tingly and cramping legs and pop up swelling. There are two new medications out one is called Ritlecitinib and Olumiant. 

To be completely honest, with the side effects I had from the others I’m super nervous to try another one, so if you’ve tried these please let me know your thoughts!

I started with a functional medical doctor and did the gamut of testing. Most notable was very high cortisol levels which could be linked to stress induced hair loss. I am now starting an anti-inflammatory diet which includes gluten free, dairy free, soy free along with cutting out a handful of other things. I’m also on a number of new supplements. 

I truly hope something helps as I feel embarrassed, frustrated and at times hopeless. 😩 I’m learning to be confident in wig wearing which has helped tremendously but I’m a super newbie so learning all the tips and tricks of getting them right! 

I appreciate all of you sending suggestions and sharing your stories with me as well! Now I’ll need lots of gluten free and dairy free recipies! 🥗
