Before a deep plane facelift begins, each incision and surgical landmark is carefully mapped to maximize both safety and natural looking results.

This patient's facelift incision begins within the temporal hairline, follows the natural crease in front of the ear, curves discreetly behind the tragus, continues behind the ear, and extends into the hairline where excess neck skin is removed. When healed, these locations are designed to be well hidden, even when wearing your hair up.

The remaining markings are not for the skin, they guide the surgery beneath the surface. By identifying important anatomical landmarks and releasing the small ligamentous attachments around the cheek, the deep plane can be repositioned smoothly. This allows the cheek and jawline to be lifted naturally while avoiding a pulled or uneven appearance.

A natural result starts long before the first incision.

Dr. Novis is a double board certified facial plastic surgeon in North Myrtle Beach, SC, specializing in deep plane face and neck lift procedures under local anesthesia.
