Palazzo Di Pizza palazzodipizzaroyaloak in Royal Oak earned its place on the prestigious 50toppizza USA Slice list, an influential Italian pizza guide that ranks the top slice shops in the country through anonymous tastings. Judges score on everything from dough and toppings to service and attention to detail, and Palazzo’s cheesy, crispy-edged Detroit-style slices have made the list two years in a row, coming in at #6 in 2024 and #9 in 2025. 🏆

On July 1, the team traveled to New York City to receive their award in person. Positioned among giants like L’industrie Pizzeria, Slice & Pie, and Taglio, Palazzo’s nod on the list further elevates Detroit-style pizza to national acclaim and proves that the Motor City’s signature square, crispy, cheese-caramelized flavor stand toe-to-toe with the rest of the nation. 

Co-owners Greg and Robert opened Palazzo di Pizza in 2019, drawing inspiration from their cousin, the late Shawn Randazzo, a Detroit-style pizza legend. Just months after opening, the pandemic hit, but their takeout-only model allowed them to keep serving without interruption. A focus on quality, consistency, and community has helped them build a loyal following, along with a 7.9 rating from Dave Portnoy stoolpresidente. 🍕
