The Penn Lung Rescue Team deploys mobile extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, for those in acute #respiratoryfailure. A device that replaces the function of injured lungs, #ECMO is often used while a patient awaits transplant, but for some patients it gives the lungs a chance to recover and get stronger.
