## Caption

Internet radio stations like @hydefmradio and @lowergrandradio have become fixtures in a thriving local music ecosystem. Some venues, such as San Francisco’s natural wine spot Bar Part Time, make a point to book underrepresented and local DJs. 

It is this kind of persistent community ethos that Denis Makhlin says is his motivation to continue HydeFM, and the reason it has grown so much here in San Francisco. The scene does not thrive in spite of the Bay Area – it is the Bay Area.
