Today marks 1 year out from the next Olympic Games, Paris 2024.
I want to take this opportunity to share a message about my Olympic journey because this kind of day brings so many mixed emotions for me. Both gratitude for the experience I had but also a lot of stress about the pressure to recreate past success. 
To anyone who has an Olympic-sized dream, remember that the achievement of that goal in and of itself will not increase your current level of happiness. There might be an initial bump right after the event, but then you will quickly go back to the level of happiness you have right now. So if you’re chasing that goal in order to bring you more happiness, consider why that is and what you could do to be more happy during the process instead.
I know this to be true, but I have to keep relearning that lesson.
Earlier this year I felt really aligned with my goals and my happiness and then slowly as I got further along in the track season I started to forget all that and got caught up in chasing a goal in order to be happy.
Oops.

Now I’m trying to figure out if making the goal of going to Paris 2024 is even the right goal for me. If I’m going to dedicate myself to that goal for the next 365 days it needs to be something that I can commit my whole heart to and enjoy the process regardless of the result. I don’t take that decision lightly so im going to take my time and make sure it’s right.
