Even though it’s still scorching hot outside, I’m ready for the fall flavors and fragrances we all love. This apple cider granita is the perfect dessert recipe to transition into fall. Apple Cider Granita 33 ounces apple cider 1 cinnamon stick 1 nutmeg, whole 2 star anise Bring the cider and spices to a simmer in a medium saucepan for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the cider infuse with the spices for about 20 minutes while it cools. Remove the spices with a spoon. Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Freeze overnight. When you’re ready to serve, remove it from the freezer and break the frozen cider apart with a fork, making a shaved ice texture. Pour caramel sauce into 4 cups and then add the shaved granita.
