Berkeley’s dining and shopping options are far from limited, with a range of restaurants and businesses that cover just about everything. However, there is one type of business you won’t find much of: chains.

That is, until recently.

In the past, Berkeley’s streets have been occupied by primarily small businesses and local stores. However, with two new Targets opening in the last 10 years and Panda Express, Wingstop and Crumbl Cookies opening soon on Southside, the question arises: Will these stores usher in a new wave of larger chains?
