No Greater Honor. It’s the biggest fixture in the world, and it finally landed in the heart of Texas. Ahead of kickoff, a swarm of Madridistas and Culés hastily descended upon AT&T Stadium for what promised to be a fierce showdown. We’d seen it on TV countless times, and despite it being a friendly, there was an indescribable buzz around the ground. The type you only get a handful of times in a lifetime. And how could you not? Half of the stadium was surely fantasizing about being able to say they saw Vini, Lewandowski, Modric, Gundogan and company in the Lone Star State. A random event that would’ve seemed impossible a few years ago. But there we all were. The opening whistle finally pierced the air and pulled us right into reality — a wonderful one at that. Dembélé got the early opener and sent half of the crowd into pandemonium. Over an hour later — and after five shots into the woodwork by Madrid — Barça would double and then triple their lead. The score read 3-0 at full time, but it was much closer than it seemed. We got to witness a great one. Perhaps the only difference from a Texas Clásico and an in-season Clásico, is the fact we all got to walk away with huge grins on our faces. We all won.
