The Crooked House pub in Dudley sadly burned to the ground on Saturday night, just days after it was announced the building had been sold to a private buyer. 

It then emerged on social media that the country music band Gasoline & Matches had been scheduled to perform there that night, but they’ve since spoken out to explain the booking was cancelled last month and that it was a “crazy coincidence”. 

🗣️ "We've been having people reach out all day asking if we are okay and what happened, we're not there. We got told at the start of July that the gig had been cancelled, so we didn't even visit The Crooked House, we'd really been looking forward to going."

Staffordshire Police are working with fire investigators to figure out the cause of the blaze, and urge anyone with information to contact them.
