How did you first come across the idea for your MICA UP/Start Venture Project?
"In the summer of 2020, our intensive, in-person graduate program shifted online, as all things did with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning how to communicate in a virtual space felt like learning a new language and familiar ways of forming emotional and professional connections no longer held true. From this experience, we realized that, as a society, we have an opportunity to reinvent the way that we communicate. Through our skills in human-centered design and business strategy, as well as our experience with effective teaming and leading organizations, we have applied our experiences, studies, and expertise to create Convo."

Who were some industry mentors or advisors you/your team looked up to for questions and/or advice?
"True to our name, Convo is a product shaped by thoughtful, passionate, insightful conversations with mentors, peers, potential clients, and experts. First, we absolutely would not be where we are without our UP/Start mentor, Justin Shelby. We are deeply grateful to former UP/Start winners, Erica Duffy and Carrie Shipton, for their wisdom and generosity. In addition, our MAMBA cohort has been with us on our journey through every iteration of Convo."
