COVER LETTERS
Keep your cover letter (e-mail) short.
Use “Summer Internship Inquiry” in your subject line.
Customize your cover letter for the business you are applying to.
Double-check that you are sending the right email to the right company.
Use a spreadsheet to track your emails and replies.
Send out letters in mid-March.

PORTFOLIO
Make a PDF and a website.
Make sure your website functions well on mobile.
Include 7 projects in your PDF, no more than 20 pages.
Make the first project count.
Compress your PDF to under 10MG and customize it for the job you are applying for.
Include short descriptions that focus on what you can do, such as “custom lettering” or “brand systems.”

RESUME
Be truthful and accurate.
Don’t lie about what you can do or where you have worked.
Your years of work experience may be used to calculate your pay.
The HR department may screen resumes before sending them on to creative directors.
The creative team will be more interested in your portfolio than your resume.]
