Test 10: Logging Off
Last day best day. Starting today in 4th place with the obvious goal of solidifying a spot on the podium. The biggest threats were @blacksmifff and @fikowski , but knowing that there were 2 coliseum events and the outdoor event was miscle up heavy I liked my odds in those match ups and was confident starting the day.
I did however have a terrible sleep. My fingers were throbbing all night and when I finally got up they were clearly very infected. I had red tracking to my middle knuckles and drained about a tablespoon of pus from my index and pinky fingers. Fortunately my wife is a physician so I woke her up for a quick consult. “They’re not gonna fall off today, but tomorrow you’re starting antibiotics”. Fair enough. Better at least make it worth it.
The test was really fun. I spoke with @adlerjeff in the morning, we’ve had lots of great races in muscle up workouts in the past and were confident we’d be pushing the pace. It came down to guts in the last round.
The workout was faster than I expected. There was no real point in running hard with the bag, just being smooth. The last log was also higher than i expected. We didn’t have anything like it in the warm up area so it was a fun surprise. Last bag would be tough. Separation happened with efficient over logs and not hesitating on the rings.
3 rounds were done in a blink. My grips were bloody and arms roasted. I was picking the bag differently than normal to protect my hand and it was costing more than I’d hoped. After round 4 running back to the rings I knew it was a gamble. Trusting my ring skills I jumped up quick. 4 reps In i thought it was good and starting thinking about the bad. when I fell off on 7 I was surprised and annoyed. A costly miss in a close workout. Getting back to the bag my arms were in fact toast. I was careful and slow on the last bag to make no mistakes. It opened the door for @roman_khrennikov to rush past me on the last section. 5th place, but should have been a top 3. Annoying but overall I was ok with it. I finished ahead of the big threats and would be stepping into 3rd place with 2 events remaining. Not a lot of breathing room though.
