Years ago, Caroline Lambray began coaching Jeffery Adler. She had always been interested in programming, and she wanted to perfect her skills in that field and in coaching. Her work with Adler started out slow, with a lot of PVCs, keeping track of his scores and his progress.

“Throughout the years, it evolved,” said Lambray.

From local throwdowns, all the way to Madison, the two remained side by side, with Lambray not only pushing Adler to succeed, but pushing herself as a coach, as well.

Her persistence and commitment paid off, as she watched her partner take home a gold medal at the 2023 CrossFit Games.

Additionally, taking home silver, was Pat Vellner, coached by Michele Letendre, who has been the woman behind his last three podium finishes within the past five years.

“I always wanted to identify myself as a coach. But the reality is that it sticks out like a sore thumb. There’s not a lot of women out there."

“I don’t think that being a woman or a man changes anything in the quality of coaching, but it does change peoples’ perspectives," said Letendre.

Read more about the elite coaches behind the men atop the podium, amongst the others like Perrin Behr, that are helping to, in the words of Letendre, “change peoples’ perspectives.”
